Spaced out: From colliding galaxies to massive black holes

While one galaxy is tearing itself apart, another pair of galaxies are colliding with each other, according to NASA. And closer to home, the second-largest black hole in our galaxy was recently discovered.

In the first instance, at the center of a far-off galaxy 12.4 billion light-years from Earth, a ravenous black hole is devouring everything around it.
