He also declared, “Honesty is the first chapter of the book wisdom.” James Madison proclaimed, “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” Back to Jefferson: “We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”
