Zombie ant fungus kills infected ant 'On Their Doorstep'

A recent study published in PLOS ONE deals with the study of zombie ant fungus or Ophiocordyceps camponoti-rufipedis. It states that this fungus is known for its ability to control the behavior of their host, the carpenter ant Camponotus rufipes.

Whenever the fungus infects any ant, it compels the infected ant to move outside the nest and climb some vegetation so that the ant bits into a leaf and the body of the ant sticks on to the leaf even after the ant dies.
