Young Oncologists in Europe Show Signs of Burnout

More than 70 percent of young oncologists in Europe show signs of burnout according to a survey presented at the Congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) in Madrid. Lead author of the study, Dr Susana Banerjee informed that the survey included 737 oncologists practicing in 41 countries across Europe.

Burnout can lead to depression, substance abuse and suicide in extreme cases. The lowest rate of burnout was found among oncologists practicing in the UK.
