In an inspiring ode to the continuing victory of progressivism and representation, the finalised vote counts coming in from the Australian Electoral Commission have confirmed that women will make up almost half of almost half of Malcolm Turnbull’s new government.
There will be 13 seats taken by women and 63 by men in the Coalition, showing that by eschewing a focus on quotas and only selecting candidates for seats based on ‘merit’, women can achieve such lofty political heights as occupying almost half of just shy of half seats taken by the party.
