Women experience more severe allergic reactions than men due to hormones: Study

A new research published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology has revealed reasons behind more severe allergic reactions, which include rashes, swelling, trouble breathing and heart attacks in women than men.

The research indicated that this might be due to hormones. According to the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), these allergic reactions or life-threatening events are called anaphylaxis and they might be influenced by estrogen levels.
