Widespread Iodine Deficiency, Pregnant Women Advised to Use Supplements

American Academy of Pediatrics has issued a statement recommending all the mothers to add supplements of iodine to the diet as it has been found that more than 33% of women are suffering from iodine deficiency.

Iodine plays an essential role in development for infants as newborn babies need iodine for producing thyroid hormones.
