Choosing the right hospital for a high-risk surgery can make a significant difference in your chances of survival, according to a comparison guide compiled by the Leapfrog Group, a non-profit that evaluates and reports on hospital safety and quality.

Just how significant? For every 100 patients having all or part of their pancreas removed, 19 will die at hospitals with the lowest survival rate, while all 100 will survive at the better hospitals.
