As per a new study, the western glacier stonefly's habitat has been decreasing gradually from the beginning of 1960s to 2012. Glacier National Park is the only place where insect is found. It was found in 1963 living in local streams.
Six streams were examined by scientists where the stonefly was found previously. Genetic analysis and species identification methods were used by researchers to find that stoneflies were there in just one of the six original streams. However, it was found to now living at higher altitudes.
