West Nile infected mosquitoes found in Licking County

NEWARK – Mosquitoes infected with West Nile Virus have been found in traps near Granville Mill and in Harrison Township, according to a press release from the Licking County Health Department.

West Nile Virus is most commonly spread to humans through infected mosquitoes and can cause febrile illness, encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) or meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
