West Antarctica, one of the two major regions of Antarctica, has been scientists' major topic of study from a long time. They have kept close watch on an icebound corner of West Antarctica, which is undergoing a historic thaw. Some climate experts have predicted that in future, the mile-thick ice sheet of the area could collapse and raise sea levels as much as 3.3 meters.
