Weight-Loss surgery could reduce asthma flare-ups among obese people, according to a study conducted by a medical team at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The team checked health records in California, Florida and Nebraska. Weight loss surgery is recommended for severely obese individuals.
The study included nearly 2,300 obese patients suffering from asthma and underwent weight-loss surgery between 2007 and 2009. The study subject aged between 18 and 54 years. The hospitalization among these individuals reduced by nearly 50 percent after the weight-loss surgery.
