Week Hits and Misses

Emotional, dark, and tender, this may have been Riccardo Tisci’s most inspired collection for Givenchy—and the most transporting of the fall 2015 collections. He took modern elements—the black leather moto jacket, the long slit skirt—and piled on moody tailored jackets with long peplums, ostrich feather prints, corset dresses and tuxedo tails in black and spicy colors. We’ll never forget those nose rings, either.

The competition among new designers was rife this season, with first collections at Hermès, Gucci, Maison Margiela, Carven and Nina Ricci. Peter Copping bested them all at Oscar de la Renta.
