The Walking Dead Season 5 opened up to be one of the most watched episodes of a TV show in cable television history. The show reportedly had 17 million viewers, which broke its own record of 16 million viewers. The interesting thing about the show is that it was so popular, it started to drown out the audiences of other popular Sunday night programs with similar demographics such as Sunday Night Football.

Even the talk show that airs after The Walking Dead, which is called Talking Dead, had 6.9 million viewers which is up from 4.5 million. Another interesting statistic is that all four of the major broadcast networks also posted improved viewership ratings.
