Voters fill polling stations as Scotland holds independence referendum

Voters are packing polling stations in Scotland as the country decides Thursday whether to end their country's 307-year-old union with Britain and become an independent state.

A number of councils across the country told the BBC that their polling stations were busy. Lines of people formed at some stations before they opened at 7 a.m. local time (2 a.m. ET).
