A Florida county has witnessed a rise in leprosy cases, with three people diagnosed with the disease in five months. In the last 10 years, before these cases were reported, just one person was affected in Volusia County, Florida.

Health officials have termed the rare rise to be unexpected. The disease’s incubation can range from nine months to two decades. Therefore, health officials do not think that it has triggered a wave of new infections.
