U.S. stocks crept higher on Tuesday, as FedEx and other companies announced deals. The slight rise put the market on track for its third gain in a row.
KEEPING SCORE: The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose six points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,087 as of 11:25 a.m. Eastern time. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 79 points, or 0.4 percent, to 17,961, while the Nasdaq composite picked up 25 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,942.
