US Shellfish Business Facing High Economic Risk as Oceans Become More Acidic

A new study has suggested that at present the US shellfish business is facing high economic risk in 15 out of 23 coastal states because oceans are becoming more acidic.

The study reached at the conclusion that Massachusetts is at the first position of states that have high risk. According to the study published in the Nature Climate Change journal, shelled mollusks like oysters, clams and scallops are very sensitive to ocean acidification.
