The next time you read an obscure species is about to go extinct, you might not need to go into a panic - 99.9% of species have not been discovered and never will be. Even in the city of Los Angeles. Just in one genus of fly.

A new paper in Zootaxa describes 30 new insect species in a single genus, Megaselia, of the fly family Phoridae.
