According to a new study, underwater volcanoes are usually gentle giants; however their recurrent flare-ups could influence climate change.

Activated by short- and long-term changes in the Earth’s orbit and ocean levels, these volcanic flare-ups, or pulses, happen on shockingly normal cycles in between their normal steady states – enduring anywhere from two weeks to 100,000 years.
