U.S. successfully launches 7th next-generation GPS satellite

An Atlas V rocket that blasted off from the Cape on August 1 successfully delivered the seventh next-generation Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite to orbit early Saturday morning.

Carrying the U. S. Air Force's 7th Block IIF navigation satellite for GPS, the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket had blasted off at 11:23 p. m. EDT on Friday from Space Launch Complex 41.
