The U.S. gains one person every 16 seconds

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — By the time you finish reading this article, the U.S. will have increased its population by at least one person.

The U.S. added one person to the nation’s population every 16 seconds in the past year, according to the Census Bureau. The result: the population is estimated to increase by 2.33 million in the 12 months to Jan. 1, 2015 — a 0.73% gain. Some 320 million people will be living in the country.
