Two stars discovered at record-breaking distances

Astronomers have found the most distant stars ever discovered in the Milky Way Galaxy, at 775,000 and 900,000 light years away.

Only seven stars have been identified beyond 400,000 light years away. Astronomers have recently discovered two of them, which reside within the Milky Way halo that surrounds our galaxy. The two red giant stars are ULAS J0744+25 and ULAS J0015+01 at distances of 775,000 and 900,000 light years away...
