Two health testing labs to pay $48.5M fine for conducting unnecessary tests

Two American health testing laboratories have been slapped with hefty fines for allegedly bribing doctors to get patient referrals for unnecessary medical tests at their facilities.

The Health Diagnostics Laboratory (HDL) will pay $47 million, while Singulex Inc. will have to pay $1.5 million to settle the allegations.
