In Boston a 35-year-old Lindalva Pinheiro da Silva gave birth to twins. That in itself is nothing uncommon, but the fact that the babies were born 24 days apart is. She went into labor at 24 weeks and for four days the doctors tried to stop her contractions and keep the babies in. But despite their efforts, the first twin Alexandre was born who was extremely premature and weighted only one pound and ten ounces. 50% babies born at 24 weeks die, so the parents were apprehensive, however the baby survived.
