Turk Kurdish Leader Urges Restraint as Kobani Bombed

Kurdish leaders in Turkey called for an end of violence in the country’s southeast and urged the government to accelerate peace talks to defuse a crisis over its handling of Islamic State attacks against Kurds in Syria.

Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK party, is advising “restraint” after more than 20 people were killed in clashes sparked by Kurdish protests this week, Selahattin Demirtas, chairman of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democracy Party, or HDP, said today.
