Trial begins in salmonella outbreak that killed three Minnesotans

Three executives of a now-defunct peanut processing company go on trial this week in south Georgia, six years after peanut butter made by their company and contaminated with salmonella killed nine people and sickened 700 others, the Associated Press reports.

The former owner of Peanut Corporation of America, Stewart Parnell, and several others were indicted in February 2013, accused of concealing information about the contamination and selling the bad peanut butter.
