Trial begins for Romanian PM charged with corruption; opposition prepares no-confidence vote

BUCHAREST, Romania – The trial has started at Romania's high court for the country's prime minister, who has been indicted on corruption charges, including tax evasion and money-laundering.

The High Court for Cassation and Justice opened the case by discussing the legality of the indictment Monday. Prime Minister Victor Ponta is not required to attend the session.
