Transportation unions strike in Argentina to protest tax rates and inflation shuts down cities

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Many businesses are shuttered and the streets are mostly empty in Argentina amid a strike called by transportation unions to protest income tax rates and high inflation.

While transportation workers represent only a small part of the workforce, the Tuesday shutdown of subways, trains and buses created a domino effect. Many Argentines have no other way to get to work or get children to school.
