Cecilia Chung transitioned from a man to a woman when she was 27 and her friends and family left her. She even lost her job. Being a transgender and depending upon sex work for her survival in San Francisco made the society hate her. She never thought that the situation could get so worse.
"I was arrested for soliciting and put in detention for three days, where gay and bisexual men and transgender women were housed in the same cell", said Chung, 49, a strategist at the San Francisco-based Transgender Law Center.
