In October of 2012, New York teenager Joseph Beer smoked some marijuana and then got behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza, loaded in four of his friends and proceeded to speed down the highway at more than 100 mph. Eventually he lost control and crashed his car into a grove of trees with so much force that it split the car in two. All four of his friends died.
He survived and later pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. This week he was finally sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison.
