A group of researchers from the California Academy of Sciences has discovered a new species of the elephant shrew in the Namib Desert. It is called the Macroscelides micus and though it is small and mouse like, it had a protruding snout and round ears, much similar to an elephant.

Though the contrast in the sizes of a mouse and an elephant is really a stark one, it is their similar physical features which have drawn the attention of researchers.
