Leprosy is also known as Hansen’s disease. The rare condition is caused by the infection of the bacterium known as mycobacterium lepra. Most humans are, fortunately, not vulnerable to the bacteria because it is not necessarily natural in humans and is also transmitted through droplets from the mouth or nose and through close contact with an infected person or animal.

Most people associate leprosy with the ancient times or maybe the colony of lepers in Hawaii, but if you live in a particular county in Florida you might associate leprosy with a recent outbreak.
