In 2011, photographer Jeffrey Lewis Bennett was shooting a wedding for a couple named Patrick and Denise. While Bennett was taking a series of photos of the couple in rapid-fire succession, he and the groom were musing about their mutual love of GIFs and internet memes. Patrick suggested that Bennett stitch the photos from that moment together to create a GIF, so he did.
Bennett, the owner of JLB Wedding in Detroit, now admits that his first attempt was pretty terrible. But over the last few years, he has fine-tuned his craft and the wedding GIF has become his calling card, so to speak.
