The fact that it aired after the usual Adult Swim block should prime you a little for Too Many Cooks‘ assault on sense. The Cartoon Network’s late-night stretch has long been television’s most regular repository of pure weirdness, so you can only imagine the kind of freedom that comes with branding yourself as one of the 4 a.m. “infomercials” that comes after it.

Too Many Cooks — which took off after some intrepid YouTuber put it where most us could actually see it — starts off as the opening credits to a generically sweet ’80s-ish family sitcom: a loveable dad fake-laughs, some cute kids smile while the actors’ names flash under them, the whole gang gathers...
