If the recipe you're planning to use for roasted turkey on Thanksgiving instructs you to rinse the bird in cold water, we've got three words for you: Don't do it!

Washing turkey or other types of poultry is a definite a no-no. When you do that, you spread sticky chains of salmonella bacteria around in the sink, where they can contaminate other foods and make you and your family sick.
