Texas Announces Long-term Improvement in Preterm Birth Rate

Austin, TX, Nov. 6, 2014 – The seven-year improving trend in Texas’ preterm birth rate, helped give more babies a healthy start in life and contributed to the improvement in the national rate.

Texas’ preterm birth rate was 12.3 percent in 2013, down from 13.7 in 2006, the year the national rate peaked. Texas again earned a C on the report card.
