Tesla Off To A Strong Start In 2015

Tesla announced that it sold 10,030 cars in the March quarter, up 55% from last years 6,457 units, and compares to guidance of 9,500 Model S’. It is a bit hard to tell if Tesla is back to beating its guidance by the same amount it did in each of 2013’s four quarters, if this was a catch-up from December 2014’s 1,400 unit shortfall or if underlying demand is growing at this rate. For the year Tesla has guided to 70% plus unit growth which would be at least 55,000 Model S’ and Model X’s so at least the company is off to a strong start.

Tesla plans to announce its quarterly sales within three days of quarters end to negate the speculation that surrounds the company’s results.
