Termites Mounds are Not Useless: They Help Prevent Desertification

Study has found that termites, the lowly creature mostly regarded as a pest, can prove helpful for holding back deserts and protection of savannas. They build homes for plant life according to the new study.

Researchers from Princeton University found that termite mounds worked as a barrier. It prevented arid regions from encroaching into grasslands and agricultural areas. Areas are preserved by these processes for big animals such as zebras and lions.
