Termite mounds possess potential to prevent spread of deserts: Study

According to a new study reported in journal Science by Princeton University researchers, termites play a crucial role to stop the spread of deserts into semi-arid ecosystems and agricultural lands.

The researchers reported that these insects protect the Earth against the effects of climate change by providing a moist refuge for vegetation on and around their mounds.
