Termite mounds help stabilize ecosystems in tropical grasslands and Savannas

A new report published online in the journal Science revealed that termites slow the spread of deserts into dry land by modifying the soil in several ways, thus benefitting plants.

The Princeton University researchers reported that with termite mounds, Savannas, grasslands and other dry-land ecosystems can survive on significantly less rainfall.
