Telescoping Contact Lens Shows Great Promise For Patients With AMD

It might seem futuristic but a team of developers has recently engineered a new contact lens that can offer people the ability to zoom in like a camera with a telescopic lens. The project has been funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), intended to help provide bionic vision for soldiers.

Eric Tremblay, of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, in Switzerland, says, “We think these lenses hold a lot of promise for low vision and age-related macular degeneration.
