Teens at risk for suicide have ample access to firearms, study finds

Firearms are the second most common means of suicide among adolescents. However, according to a recent study, teens with a history of mental illness have ample access to guns.

The study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, found a correlation between gun access within the home and suicidal rates among adolescents. The study included adolescents between the age of 13-18, who participated in a self-report survey between 2001 and 2004.
