Tackling Depression Could Reduce Cardiovascular Risk, Study Finds

The association seemed to be stronger for treating more severe cases of depression than was the effect of using statins to lessen cardiovascular risk, say the specialists from the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute in Salt Lake City, UT.

As per the study – finding 5,311 individuals, or 20%, affected by the psychological health issue among a total of more than 26,000 patients treated by the center in the course of 3 years – will be presented by the investigators at this month’s annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology.
