Syrian forces loyal to President Bashar Assad pushed Islamic State militants out of the ruins and citadel of the ancient city of Palmyra but have yet to conquer the entire city.
Government forces backed by Russian airstrikes took the citadel Thursday, according to reports by Reuters and the Agence France-Presse.
