Syracuse's public housing apartments going smoke-free next week

Syracuse, N.Y. – Smoking will be prohibited in all public housing in Syracuse starting Nov. 19.

The ban will affect more than 5,000 people who live in 2,300 apartments. Tenants who violate the ban could face eviction, said Bill Simmons, executive director of the Syracuse Housing Authority, which owns and manages 15 housing developments.
