Support for Spain's mainstream parties rises in election

MADRID, June 26 Support for Spain's two traditionally dominant conservative and socialist parties rose in Sunday's general election, preliminary data with more than 50 percent of the votes counted showed, contradicting several exit polls.

The People's Party (PP) of acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy would obtain 133 seats, up from 123 in a previous parliamentary election in December, while the socialist party (PSOE) would garner 93 seats, up from 90.
