Super-Saturn Is The First Ringed Planet Outside The Solar System

Astronomers have spotted a ring system outside of our Solar System for the first time – and it’s a massive one, 200 times the size of Saturn’s.

The gigantic ring system eclipses the very young Sun-like star J1407, which is how the University of Rochester’s Eric Mamajek and his co-author Matthew Kenworthy from Leiden Observatory in Holland stumbled across it back in 2012.
