Suicide Rate Up Among Middle-Aged Americans

It turns out that suicide is starting to look like a favorable option for many middle-aged Americans struggling financially. A study published on Friday in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine discusses the suicide rates among middle-aged Americans have increased by about 40 percent since 1990.

The study authors says, “Relative to other age groups, a larger and increasing proportion of middle-aged suicides have circumstances associated with job, financial, or legal distress and are completed using suffocation.”
