‘Suicide Bridge’: 12-story bridge attracts suicide jumpers in Portland

A "Suicide Bridge" is making news across the country. On June 9, Time Magazine reported that several residents in Portland, Oregon are urging state officials to put up some kind of barrier or blockade to try and curb people from leaping to their deaths off of this one particular bridge -- the Vista Bridge (seen above). Two people have killed themselves by way of the bridge in the past month alone.

"The deaths sadden but no longer surprise those who live and work near the Vista Bridge, known colloquially citywide as 'The Suicide Bridge.' They have come to expect such tragedies at the structure, from which there is a majestic vista of the city skyline," Time reports.
